isn't basswood supposed to be in between mahogany and alder in terms of brightness? and that stringmachine was putting his evo on a strat which is alder?

i was thinking of putting an evo at the bridge and paf joe on the neck on my RG (basswood)

I haven't tried the EVO in an all mahogany guitar, just one with a maple top on mahogany. Stringmachine never told us what his Strat is made of (At least not in this thread) It may be alder. Of course everyone's ears are different. I didn't care for the EVO in Basswood, but some do.

As for basswood being like mahogany, I've never found that. Mahogany to my ears is very smooth and middy whereas basswood seems almost nasal by comparison.

Just my ears tho!
