DiMarzio Ionizer 7 Set On 25.5” 7 String Ibanez Guitar

Hello everyone! I have an upgrade project I’m wanting to do with my Ibanez GRG7221 guitar. While I’m swapping out the original body with a custom Iceman 7 body, I thought about getting new pickups. The tuning I’ve been using is F#BEADF#B, essentially a baritone guitar tuning with an additional low F# string. I’ve been eyeing on the DiMarzio Ionizer 7 pickups and I’m wondering if they’d be a good choice for my guitar.

BTW, I’ve been using Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom 8 string sets on it and tuning has been holding up very good.

What is the new body made of? If it's basswood, I would recommend the D-Activator 7 set. I have used the DA7's since they came out, and have favored them the most. Basswood is a tonally neutral wood, and the DA7's fit well tonally with it. Not too muddy, yet not excessively bright or boomy either. Plus they are pick sensitive - the harder you pick and dig into the strings, the more aggressive they get. The softer you pick, the cleaner they get. They are a bit hotter than the Ionizers IIRC, but the DA7's are well suited for any style/genre too.

The body is supposedly poplar. It feels pretty sturdy for softwood though.
