DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

Today, I dropped a Liquifire in the neck position of my Saber where it replaced the Full Shred. When I plugged in my guitar, I couldn't believe my ears! It sounds very powerful, the mids are prominent and warm, bass is very tight (for a neck pickup) and the treble is present yet very warm and "rounded off". It's exactly what I was looking for and no SD pickup could deliver so I decided to try a DiMarzio for the first time and I got no regrets at all :)

The LiquiFire is perfect for metal leads. It's very articulate, cuts through the mix effortlessly and has SOUL! All in all, an awesome pickup.

Nice, dude! I just bought LiquiFire 7. I hesitated very long if I should go for the FS or LF. I'm glad I made the right choice :)

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

Welcome to the club. I've been enjoying the LiquiFire for a couple of weeks now. I've been thinking about replacing all of my Air Nortons with LiquiFires, but I'm going to play back and forth between the two pickups for a while before I let my Air Nortons go. The Liquifire is the only neck pickup that goes perfectly with the AT-1 bridge. I love it.

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

I have a LF partnered up with an AT-1 now in one of my Charvels. I like the LF more than I expected, but the Humbucker from Hell is still the best neck pup DMZ offers IMHO.

I have no plans to change out the LF however.

Man I still haven't tried a Humbucker From Hell. How would you describe how it sounds and responds to alternate picking?

The only thing I can say about it with alternate picking or any type of speed picking is it WILL amplify any mistakes or any subtle variation in picking dynamics, inconsistent or not. It's very single coily all around and definitely in that respect. A very clear articulate no BS low output pup. Like a beefy neck single coil without the grit. I too dig it. Especially split. Heavenly for cleans.

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

I am terrible at trying to describe sound, and frankly I don't obsess over some things I see others do. I either like how something sounds, or I don't.

I can tell you that the HFH is very clean sounding, almost like a single. I don't care for neck hums that sound muddy or "bloopy". The LF sounds pretty good to my ears, but if I compare the HFH and LF back to back, I prefer the cleaner sound of the HFH.

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

The HFH is a deceiving pup, as you think its going to be bright and thin, but I've found it can be anything but : in a 22-fret alder body guitar neck spot it'll do loud and proud, but drop it in a 24-fret basswood and it gets a lot brighter and thinner.

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

Hi, how does it pair with evolution bridge? I'm quite unsatisfied with the evo neck, too cold and sterile

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

I'd be curious to know how it compares to the FS neck...my current fav.

Having tried both in the same guitar I can tell you that the LiquiFire has all the pros of the Full Shred without having the cons. It's very articulate for fast runs, outstanding string to string definition and clarity, tight bass (far a neck pu) and a very beautiful, singing lead tone.

If you compare the EQs of both pickups, you will see (and hear!) that the LiquiFire has less highs and more midrange. The lead tone gets fuller and warmer while retaining perfect definition. The Full Shred's treble could get very annoying and ice-picky sometimes. With the LiquiFire the treble is still present but smoothed out and much more pleasant.

All in all, the LiquiFire has more body, more tone, more soul and perfect articulation without having any harsh or ice-picky tendencies.

If you like the FSn you will LOVE the LiquiFire! Give it a shot - you won't regret it ;)

Thanks bro...I felt that the Crunch Lab was an improved FSb...and saying that the Liquifire is an improved FSn...sounds like pure win!

Re: DiMarzio LiquiFire: instant love!

One thing I liked about the FSb in the neck was that it could get that "scream"...almost like the JB.

Does the LF do that as well?

It does! That's why I like it so much. It doesn't sound dark and creamy like a typical neck pickup. It's got a very nice screaming tone if you do slower bends or let single notes sustain with a good vibrato. This pu has got a lot of personality ;)
