Dimarzio Megadrive = DUNCAN SH-5?

I heard the megadrive is a very great underated pup?
most say it sounds like a custom only even better?

I have a Megadrive, I got it in a used guitar. It sounds like a Tone Zone but less bottom end and a bit more aggressive. Very cool pickup. very '80's hair band tone

I've had a Megadrive.....and I've had an SH-5....but they were in different guitars so I couldn't tell if they sounded alot alike.

I don't think the Megadrive is anything like the TZ though...very different sounding....it's actually very close to an Steve's Special apparently according to the folks at Dimarzio.

Leslie West played these at one time...maybe still does. When I hear him playing it... it was very high gain sounding pup...bright..slightly fizzy top end, not much low end but cut like a knife in a good way. I would say the MD is higher output,brighter and not as "tight" as a Custom..it doesn't quite have the mids or low end a Custom does and the Custom sounds a bit tighter in the highs.

I've heard a megadrive is very much like a steve's special, with less scoop in the midrange. Also, hear kerry king from slayer used to load his guitars with them. For what its worth
