dimarzio super 2 in bridge?

Re: dimarzio super 2 in bridge?

It depends on the guitar. If the guitar is darker sounding it works well. I had one in the bridge of a Mahogany strat with an ebony fretboard and it wasn't too bright.

I had one in a Japanese Strat, and it turned it into my worst sounding guitar. It wasn't overly bright in my experience, it just sounded stiff, and lifeless.

I know it's supposed to be a brighter Super Distortion(which is the one DMZ pup that I really like), but it didn't sound that way at all, to me. I thought that maybe it was just the guitar, but once I pulled it out, and installed a JB, all was right in the world.

works great in a dark sounding guitar. it is a super d with the trebs boosted and the bass lowered. same output as the original super. carlos cavazo used them back on the mental health record, lita ford was another super 2 user. jerry garcia also used them with the dead. now in the neck it is real nice even though it is a hot pup it has unbelievable clarity in the neck

I just installed it in an explorer studio - poplar body with mahogany neck/rosewood fingerboard. This guitar always sounded low mid heavy, and so far the super 2 seems to be the ticket. Doesn't seem too bright. The low end is not muddy. Hey, maybe this pickup will stay in the guitar for longer than a month!
