Re: Dimarzio Super Distorion - 1st clip with it

Yeah the Super Distortion seems to be a timeless pickup. 20 years from now it will still make a guitar sound awesome. The video was too short and didn't offer much to appreciate the pickup with. I've never actually heard a good demo of the B52 AT100. My only experience with B52 was a 1x12 50w combo that I bought at Guitar Center when they first came out.

I played the store demo and thought it sounded pretty good for the money so I bought one new in the box. I got home and played it for a week before it died on me. We checked fuses, tubes, etc.. but the problem was more serious. I waited 3 weeks for a replacement which came in but it made this squeaky whining sound that wouldn't go away until you turned it off and on again. You could be playing for 2 hours and then it would just start making that noise. I gave up on B52 and ended up getting a Mesa Boogie.

Anyway, I'll bet they have improved since they first came out so I'd like to hear a good demo. The Super Distortion also does a lot of different tones besides metal really well too. It has nice cleans.

sorry you got burned on the B-52 glad i didnt, though i got mine in trade it offers the saturation and gain i need.

i dont have enough skill or patience to test this pickup how every wants. when i get down to playing more i will make another demo that shows another aspect of this pickups ability. i had a two hour window today to play around with music. i think it shows its heavy alternative side very well as i set out to do today.

I'm thinking of buying a used B52 if I can get one real cheap.

I have to admit I'm confused because your tone always rocks! Never mind that's why I like synths the constant tweaking. Hahaha

Anyhow, I like this tone too.

i admit im slightly confused as well..if i sit and not play guitar for awhile i think its been 37 days i get this unstoppable urge to get something new in setup otherwise i cant just pickup the guitar and jam anymore.
its probably a weirdness from messing around with too much gear in the past 4 years. i know its weird :)

The manual says that the ATX100 has 4 6L6's and 6 12ax7's. Ten tubes can be kind of expensive in a retube, but it's not uncommon for a 100w channel switcher. Does the older version of this amp have more tubes?
