Dimarzio Titan vs. Nazgul for heavy chug chugs

Re: Dimarzio Titan vs. Nazgul for heavy chug chugs

Which would be better to put in bridge position for heavy but still tight chug chugs?

I have tried both, honestly, it depends what you want. the Nazgul is a bit of a mess to be honest, a little to much output for my liking but manageable if you use a proper amp and overdrive, the Titan though is a really great pickup, really clear across the strings from chords or even chugs. It isn't crazy high output which I much prefer.

what rig you using?

I've never tried the Titan but I currently have a Nazgul in the bridge of my Blackjack Avenger and it is coming out ASAP. It is very boomy-sounding on the low end and it sounds like it has a layer of fuzz over top of it which makes it lose definition. It's a very tight and brutal pickup but the fuzz makes it sound darker and less articulate. I was able to compare it with a Jackson KV2 which had a JB in the bridge, and I thought that pickup was much more powerful and clear. However one good thing I can say about the Nazgul is that it is pretty good for really fast death metal-style picking, but honestly that's about all I found it good for.

Here's a pretty good example of how it sounds to me. I think it's best suited for this type of music:

Honestly, it really does depend. I've tried both, and I lean a little bit more towards the Titan, because while both are aggressive, the Titan's aggressive characteristics are more easily tamed than the Nazgul's. I found that both the Titan bridge and neck cleaned up well when you rolled back the volume or dialed them in correctly, whereas the Nazgul really only excelled on very high gain tones.
