Dimarzio Transition & Duncan Saturday Night Special

Re: Dimarzio Transition & Duncan Saturday Night Special

Again, it seems like the neck model has the makings for an excellent bridge pickup.
So, Gregory, what neck humbucker would you use to go with it?
EJ Custom
Humbucker From Hell
Bluesbucker
Full Shred
Seth
Pearly Gates
Jazz
APH

Single coils ought to do well with it too.

Re: Dimarzio Transition & Duncan Saturday Night Special

I tried the Transitions in an EBMM Luke III, and as full humbuckers, they were lacking in treble response. They were good when parallel in positions 2 (inner coils) and 4 (outer coils). I really wanted to like them, but didn't.

I also have a Luke III and it is the reason I am back reading these forums. l LOVE the pickups so much and the preamp boost, I was trying to research adding a blackout preamp to my other guitar that has SD Custom Shop Eclairs installed.

The Transitions pickups are impressive and very clear. Not dull at all. I have 250K pots in my EBMM Steve Morse so I am thinking maybe trying out a setup of Transitions. I have 3 pickguards loaded with different pickups!

So... another vote for Transitions. But I am definitely a SD fanboy!

Savage, can you describe the SNS set compared to the WLH a bit? The Whole Lotta set are my favorite humbuckers, to the point where I don't really use my other bucker guitars so much anymore. I don't want to have the same pickups in every guitar though, so I was thinking of trying the SNS (they would replace Super D & 59 in my V).
