DiMarzio X2N

JB_From_Hell

Jomo's Nimions
I've had it in the guitar about half an hour now, so I'm reserving final judgement. It's unbelievably fat, especially on the high notes. Crazy harmonics, and loud as hell. It may be missing that whatever-it-is that typically makes me end up disliking DiMarzios. We'll see... :D

Oh yeah, it's in an Ibanez RG570, strung up with GHS ZW 11-70, and tuned to B.

Re: DiMarzio X2N

Good lord, I can't imagine this thing in the neck. Leave both pickups on, turn on an octave box, and it'd be good-bye bass player! :D

I have one in an SG. It rips faces off thru the plexi. hahahahahaha.

Re: DiMarzio X2N

When i hear Michael Romeo's tone ( amazing guitarist ) i always think it is a bit fizzy ; do you still have some pick definition with the xn2 ?
How does it compare with the Duncan Distortion ?

Re: DiMarzio X2N

The only thing I don't like about this pickup is that it's too hot....I like the overall tone though.

Cool pickup.

I tried a X2N a few years back and it was just TOO MUCH :yell:
It has a relatively flat EQ response with a way over the top output.
I prefer the EMG 81 over the X2N :burnout:

Re: DiMarzio X2N

Man - it's been busy regarding X2N's. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The thing is just uncalled for. But you've got to consider the all things in their time. The 80's were a period of excess; Big hair, Big rock - why not a Big pickup? I love my Duncan Distortion - but Jazz is to Invader what DD is to X2N. The thing is just Stoopid hot.

Re: DiMarzio X2N

I'm a big X2N fan, and i love the ridiculous amounts of output it has to offer. Have many of you tried it split? I have my les paul wired with a 6 Position switch, an X2N and a Super 2, and i can get some really cool, DIFFERENT, tones.

Re: DiMarzio X2N

I've got a mini swith (on/on/on). I do series/parallel/split. Split is cool, but I really like it in parallel. Brings it down to earth-lets the tone through! Still pretty powerful!!!!!
