is it me or are companies milking dimes death to push a bunch of crap?...when i went into g.c. to pay on my peavey triple x head,i noticed a half stack..and the amp simply said dime,as in dime bag darrel..about 600 bucks or so if my memory is correct.......solid state,i didnt even turn it on,as i am all done with solid state......i was just curious as to who makes it,and why is it solid state?...dime wasnt playing solid state any more...dime single handedly saved dean guitars...so i get all the dean stuff going on ,but i thought the dime amp with the lite em up switch was kinda cheesy....getcha pull...dimes been gone another year......that nite in ohio was f@cked up.

wow...just checked..dean makes this amp...so this had to have been approved by the people that run dimes affairs......it rreally sucks that dimes smile and playing and personality was stolen from us by some piece of sh@t....who should have just stepped in front of a bus and called it a day.

Re: dime amps?..what the hell?

Dime was notoriously fond of one particular solid state amplifier.

The man and his legacy remain highly marketable. For better or worse, this is simple supply and demand.

Did you take the scratches out of your guitar?

yes i did..i used the virtuoso premium polish....i spent an hour buffing and polishing..i am posting some new gear porn pics this week end when i bring my new peavey triple x head home.

Yeah, his sound was all solid state gain with some parametric EQs to tweak.

He never had a great tone imo, but it did suit Pantera and what he was doing PERFECTLY

yea when he was in pantera,,he used those randall s.s. heads....i forget which one. century maybe.

Re: dime amps?..what the hell?

Dime still used SS, He would rock out Krank for endorsements.

It's just like Metallica with ESP and Randall. Even though they use Marshalls and Mesa, they would still rock out and have a Randall RM series up there with them. Same could be said with Gibson and ESP.

Re: dime amps?..what the hell?

it's kinda sad, but at the same time, let's face it - Dean was good to Dime, and Dime liked his Dean stuff, so it's all good.

Re: dime amps?..what the hell?

The only people that can really be blamed are the people that are in charge of his estate and name. Dean nor anyone else can't do anything without their approval unless they want to be sued.

Re: dime amps?..what the hell?

YUP, saw thouse SS Dime amps about 6months ago, while page'ing through a mag somewhere in a bookstore in Alaska.

The Utoob clips make it sound like a cheap-n-cheerfull SS amp. In a bad way!
To my ears, it sounds NOTHING like his old SS WarHead amps from Randall.
So, why make something that does not sound anything like the man who they try to represent ?

Re: dime amps?..what the hell?

There's a lot of this in business (Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, etc.), but since we're players and musicians, we notice it more with 'icons' like Dime.

Remember the Jimi starter packs that Gibson almost got to market? When people started screaming about that ridiculous travesty, Gibson pulled the plug and threw 'em in the fire. If these amps don't sell, Dean will chisel off the Dime logo and put another stamp on them.

Seriously, why can't we just let some people rest in peace? There's no need to be constantly reminded that somebody died by whoring their name into the ground to make some extra $.

Money. Somebody will buy them.

With this train-of-though, i am very surprized that no one had milked the Kurt Cobain name more than they have !
There too, is a massive 'icon' for alot of people, epsecially close to my age.
I was 18 when Nevermind came out, so my entire generation knew about Nirvana, if they wanted too, or not.

The only Kurt-thing i know of, is the sea-foam green Fender that a friend of a friend's sister owns. Very light guitar btw.
IMHO, it is a good thing, but still, sometimes i wonder why it did not escalade into a bigger thing.

That's actually one thing Courtney Love has done right. She really hasn't allowed him to be exploited like she could have. If she wanted to, I'm sure she could have let companies make all types of Cobain model guitars, pedals, amps, etc.
