yea if you dont played things at least as heavy as pantera you wont like it.


i dont get the thin thing. every one says its thin. it does not sound thin at all to me. i have it in a koa neck and body carvin dc 127. its sounds way thicker than than the jb in my soloist. i dunno maybe it just works with my rig well.
maybe it would sound terrible in another situation.

so yea hear is what i am getting out of it.
i am getting a very mean thick agressive tone. while it lacks the clarity of the c22b (carvin stock) it is not muddy sounding. i did have to drasticly change my eq for this pickup as it is very bright.

but in the end i came out with what i wanted. the sound i already had with more balls.


i have been playing for 12 years so i have heard a thin muddy sizzly tone may times. this pickup is not giving my any of those. i dont know. everyones rig is different. everyone plays different. i think it sucks for you guys that bought this pickup and it didnt work out.

i think if if you got a dark amp or a lot of eq options and you want to play extreme metal this pick up will do you well.
if you got a jcm 800 or any other bright and want to play anything less heavy then stay away from it you will hate it.

about the dimebucker in your carvin.... it's the koa, it shaves off alot of the highs(or, the thinness you don't hear), and is an inherintly fat sounding wood. if you were to put it into your alder/maple(right wood, right?) jackson, it'd be much brighter and thinner. also, i don't see why you couldn't use it for something not so heavy/distorted, it's all a matter of taste. personally, if i had one i'd use it for ska rhythm, it'd be pretty badazz in that sort of application.

and it's good that you dug in with your amp controls to get a good sound before writing the dimebucker off - lots of folks (myself included) seem to forget to do that occasionally!

but i love the tone i am getting.

that's the most important thing! if you love it, you'll play better, have more fun, and that's where its at.

about the dimebucker in your carvin.... it's the koa, it shaves off alot of the highs(or, the thinness you don't hear), and is an inherintly fat sounding wood. if you were to put it into your alder/maple(right wood, right?) jackson, it'd be much brighter and thinner. also, i don't see why you couldn't use it for something not so heavy/distorted, it's all a matter of taste. personally, if i had one i'd use it for ska rhythm, it'd be pretty badazz in that sort of application.

good point it would do well for ska. maybe even country when split.

I had the DD previously in my les paul 100. Liked it but it got messed up so I decided what the hell to try the dimebucker. It has way more treble so it does sound more thin. I'm using a DSL 100 and I have to crank the bass boost up and add almost 7-8 Mids tomake up for the scoop sound of the pickup. If you do that your ok.

Remember with a Marshall it's going to pick up all the nuances so you have to EQ it wisely. With a carvin, they have a really low end sound to them.

i have dimes in several guitars i love them, i found they can be very versatile in their uses ive used it for everthing from shred to blues, i also love the distortion i have one in my seven string and its killer would of liked a dime for the 7 string but they dont make em so opted for the distortion a very good compramise
