Discontinued LP? Need Some Info

Hi guys, i saw recently one of those discontinued les paul junior specials with humbuckers. Its solid black (not to be mistaken with the faded finish)

http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/LesPaul/lpjsh.html

There is a link to see what im talking about. I really think it looks cool it has tha junior vibe but with buckers so it has a little more meat. I also noticed the main diference between that guitar and those new faded LP's is that this one seems to have a flat maple top? Does this really make that much of a difference i didn't get to try out the guitar but i will soon, and if its as affordable as those faded LP's i just may ahve found my guitar!

Thanks A Bunch Guys, Cheers. Jason

Re: Discontinued LP? Need Some Info

I know I've been hoping to get something simular to the junior special to slap a set of Phat Cats into but funds have been very tight lately. Even though I'm a little spoiled by my Standards, the Jrs are still cool little guitars for the money.

I've played a few of the faded series guitars and they were all right, but there's something about their look I can't get past.

For the money, the Hamer Special with Duncan P-90's is a great guitar. I assume they still make it. It played better than the gibson reissue with those crappy P-100's. Never played the Gibson/humbucker version though.

Thats what i was thinking of doing robert, buy a a faded lp and sticking in some phat cats, its the closest thing i can get to a real les paul junior, wihtout blowing the bank. ALthough the quality wont be as good, the specs are fairly similiar, sort of.
