This just tells me that you haven't really tried many humbuckers in split. There are some that sound fabulous split! Have you tried any of the Customs? The 59/C hybrid? The StagMag? The P-Rails? The Alt8? The Invader (this actually sounds better split than in series)? etc, etc.

Add the Perpetual Burn to the list. It is simply kick ass split.

Of those listed only the Invader and P-Rails, yes you are correct the split P90 is excellent...based on the evidence I have to concede that my statement was made on the basis of insufficient data...
But I do know that the Fishman's (post modern) split better than Pearly Gates, AP2, 59s, Invader. Lil '59, Seth Lover, several DiMarzio's and a Kent Armstorng custom wind...to my ears...so there was some data behind my statement...evidently just not enough...
