By "blend pot" I assume you are referring to the "spin-a-split" mod.
This is a very good way to see how varying the amount of one of the coils can affect the tone and performance of a pup. I have found that I just prefer the simplicity of a coil split switch.
No, I mean blend pot --- "wired like an Ibanez bass".

Could be interesting, especially with individual taps.
I'm familiar with blend pots, but it wasn't making sense in the context you were using it in. So you want to gradually blend in one coil and blend the other out with one pot rather than just using the pot to control just one coil.
Your still talking about "split" not "tap".
Do you know what the difference is?
There really is a big difference between the two. If you don't have custom made Demon and Distortion pups with the extra coil lead wire, then you can't "tap" them.
No these are two distinct and separate elements I'm exploring as wiring options --- a blender between pickups, and splitter or splitters on individual pickups... possibly both for an improved HS tone
Hmmm... or maybe wire it series somehow for a Distortion-Demon hybrid-style middle position?

Your response makes no sense relative to what I said.
You understand that I was talking about "split" vs "tap" don't you? You keep using the term "tap" in the context of "split".
Do you even know what I'm talking about?!
I'm toning down what I was originally going to say so that Dave doesn't give me an infraction...therefore,
It seems clear to me that you don't understand what you are talking about. But, here, I'll help you:
If you wanted the middle position to somehow resemble/emulate a Dist/Demon hybrid, you would split each pup and have the normal, parallel middle position. You definitely wouldn't have the two humbuckers in series...this would give you no similarity at all to a Dist/Demon hybrid!
Yeeeees
Let's debate the virtues of calling it a "vee-bra-toh lee-ver" while we're at it.
have come to the point where think the only pickups that really do a good job as a split are Fishman...the actives are able to really create a split with some kick...conventionals just always sound less than up to the job split...maybe my hearing as I get older and things go start to go south....
