Distortion Pedals

Re: Distortion Pedals

I've owned lots of various pedals... Very few did I ever really groove on (I much prefer having a good amp distortion then pedal distortion) the ones that I have kept and like to use are an Ibanez SM-9 sorta like a tubescreamer on roids but doesnt have the same sweetness... I have a Boss MT-2 that I love for bedroom practice... It just washes out live... A TC electronics line driver... which has two modes distortion and boost I only use boost. And an analogman modded tube screamer thats my staple for boosting solos...

Re: Distortion Pedals

I use a Hughes/Kettner tube factor and it rocks. It has a 12ax7 tube and it's like another preamp stage for a tube amp. It has 2 different distortions, a frequency pot, volume setting and true bypass.
I have had lots of solid state pedals too. The Maxon is pretty nice and it has true bypass.

Re: Distortion Pedals

i like tube overdrive pedals better

for ss distortion i use a MXR dime distortion.

ive tryed digitech all the fake **** blows, dont get it.

Re: Distortion Pedals

i use an mxr dime distortion and a mxr wylde overdrive but have owned alot of different distortion pedals from the metal zone and tube screamers to dod grunges

Re: Distortion Pedals

The only ones I have ever liked are the Stratdeluxer97 Boss ds-1 and the tech 21 pedals. In my opinion though, I am better off just having a great distortion from my amp and using that. Nothing beats a great amp distortion.

Nothing to add.

Re: Distortion Pedals

I really like the amp distortion I get from my marshalls. that's what I use most of the time. I tried the Turbo Tubescreamer in my rig a few weeks ago, and was very impressed. I would not hesitate recommending that.

Re: Distortion Pedals

God the Dano Daddy-O can do Vox or Marshall crunch. I also like my Chandler TubeDriver (rackmount version) and the easiest and great sounding red Jekyll&Hyde is a great pedal too. It can do Stevie Ray to Metallica and Zak.

Re: Distortion Pedals

I tried the Boss metal zone, i dislike it alot. I had the Digitech metal master, loved it but then i got tired of playing metal so i sold it, if i should had continued i should definetly keep it!

I have tried many different distortion pedals but nobody does it for me.

+1
I did like the BOSS DS-2 Turbo Distortion, but I'll stick with Amp distortion for now and use my pick-up booster when I need to get a little more out of it.
Rock On :smoker:
