Distortion pickup dilemma

Guys...I just don't know what to do. I bought this Godin guitar and can't decide which bridge pickup to buy.

On the fence between the Duncan Distortion SH6 and Super Distortion DP100.

I love the chugga chugga of The Offspring riffs, i.e. Kids Aren't Alright, Genocide

I also love the rarrr, rarrr, rarrr of Papa Roach leads, i.e. Blood Brothers, Last Resort.

I've decided to throw a Jazz SH2 in the neck slot. Help me make up my mind.

The DD is for darker Mahogany type guitars, and the DMZ SD is for brighter strat type guitars. Which one is yours?

Re: Distortion pickup dilemma

Well it's weird.
The Godin Detour has a maple body/poplar wings. But it's super bassy for some reason. I'd like to blame the stock pickups but I have nothing to compare it to yet. And it's not good bassy. It's boomy/woofy like theres a blanket over the low end.
I'd honestly say it's very flat EQ wise between the 24.75" scale and the brass hard tail.

I like bass and low mids but not like this. FYI I do have a DD in my other guitar and love it, but this is a different creature.

Re: Distortion pickup dilemma

I avoid this dilema by having not one, but two Les Pauls. One with SD, one with DD. It's a great alternative to choosing.

Re: Distortion pickup dilemma

I only have too many guitars if I have do not have enough Duncan's to fill them!

The JB might tame the overpowering bass as would a Tubescreamer type pedal in front of your amp set up as a clean boost. The Dimarzio Super 2 is light on bass also

Re: Distortion pickup dilemma

I have 30 guitars and still have some Duncans laying around gathering dust.

But I don't have too many guitars.........yet.

Ha. I used to run with 3 or 4 Les Pauls. My choice in guitars have changed somewhat over the years.

If I never played through a Duncan Distortion, I probably would have just gone with the Super Distortion as some of my favorite players use them, ie Paul Gilbert and Dexter Holland.

Problem is I've been running the DD through my superstrat and it's just such a damn good pickup and I've played the Duncan Designed and Gibson copies of it in other guitars.

I've never actually OWNED a Super Distortion though, only played them in various strats/rgs,so I kinda wanna get one just for the sake of having owned one.

Sorry dude. The ONLY guitar I've ever liked the JB in was a Wayne Rock Legend. I can't stand how shrill that pickup is. I avoid it like the plague.

*By the way Ace, after a recent sniper challenge with a few Savage Trophy XP/Ruger M77/American/Weatherby's, I concede to your wisdom, you get more for your buck with the 30-06. I retract that the .308 is a better round. Maybe only in M14's/FAL's/AR-10's given no other option.
