Ditched The Demon And Went Back To The Fred Bridge

Re: Ditched The Demon And Went Back To The Fred Bridge

What do the different coils measure on the Fred???

How would you compare it to a Full Shred???

Thanks.

Re: Ditched The Demon And Went Back To The Fred Bridge

My Freds measured like so:

9.06: 5.03, 4.06
9.86: 5.41, 4.45

for comparison, the A2Pro in the strat measured 5.95

The Fred split to the screw (stronger coil, short B&W to red) is still a bit edgier sounding than the A2pro...you need a humbucker like the Tone zone or JB to sound real soild split IMHO.

If there are only 2 coils, are you measuring actually the coils alone,or are you measuring across your guitar cable through a switch?

You really needed to measure both coils alone to get the accurate reading...When I make a Hybrid that's how I do it....

The edginess is probably because of A5 instead of the A2 in the A2P pickup.

That's the tune that my wife heard on the radio, told me about, and I've been hooked on Joe's music ever since...I pretty much have every release and dvd, tapes etc...of everything he's ever done! Yet I'm not at all a Steve Vai fan! :laugh2:

same with me! except for the wife part.. and that song. i first heard satch boogie and i was hooked on the energy and feeling he put into his playing. i first saw him on the g3 with yngwie and steve vai. i really dislike steve vai because it seems like what he plays is way too out there and i cant relate to it. its just too weird for me. satch can get weird, but hes much more blues based, imo, and much more accesible and easier to comprehend. he does play some crazy stuff too though! :laugh2:

I don't own and don't care for the Steve Vai stuff....He's one of the best in the world, but his stuff is indeed too outside for me also.

The new Fred has a stranded seperate ground wire just like the 4 conductor Duncan pickup, but I never had a problem with the wiring on the other one?

It's gotta be you Chris? :laugh2: :laugh2: Maybe you're cursed? :laugh2:

It's so true....
