Ditching One Input.....

Greetings,,,, on my Ampeg Jet J-12, I favour the 'starred' input for it's noticeable additional gain & grit, & I want to use the othet input for something else. If i wanted to eliminate the weaker of the 2 inputs, exactly how would I do this, what remains & what moves over to that hotter input? FWIW, the hotter input is the shunting type, & the other one is non-shunting. Many thanks.

Thanks

I suppose I could simply unscrew the lesser input & just secure it inside the chassis, & not having to change a thing.....?

right, it looks like the schematic is for a fender pro junior? you could absolutely keep things wired as they are, unscrew the second input jack from the chassis, wrap it in plastic, and leave it dangling inside and use the hole for something else if you wanted. what are you trying to accomplish?

IF the amp has any NFB, I want to install a on/off dip switch... It's an Ampeg Jet J12, 1-V, 1-T & Trem intensity, but i can't tell if its got NFB. This is where i let my tech take over.... thnx

I always wondered about inputs

on some marshalls
you can jump the hi and low inputs

its not like you are ever gonna plug two guitars in at the same time

why didnt they just put a switch on the front that jumped or unjumped a single input
instead of have a quad of inputs sitting there to confuse 16 year olds?

actually, back in the day, people did plug multiple instruments into one amp. more common on fenders in the 50s/early 60s, but it happened with marshalls and other amps too. the plexi was kinda a copy of a fender narrow panel bassman which had four inputs, so the marshall also had four.

I did that with my old Traynor when I was younger - jamming with friends and we only had the one amp to play through.
