Yngwie did it because he was a Ritchie Blackmore fan. It's so funny cause I get crap from guys online all the time about "being like Yngwie" but I don't do it because of him in any way at all, and it's funny that he is the one most guys automatically refer to. Don't get me wrong he is a hell of a player but I could only name a handful of his songs.

Christopher, as far as any inclusive videos showing the process step by step I'm not aware of any at all, actually I got started by looking at pictures online and figuring it out on my own. IMO the best way is to just go for it really. Make sure you have your frets taped up so you don't inadvertently scuff them, which is very easy to do especially if you're using a Dremel to remove most of the material.

Still trying to get those other pictures to load, which are nice ones and they show some of the beginning stages. I always forget to take pics when Im working on stuff until Im already well on my way into the project, but I saw those ones last night when I was looking for pictures to post for JBfromhell.

Yep that's my thoughts as well, if anything it slows you down a little bit.

Of course you guys realize that my tongue-in-cheek comment was in regards to the pic posted by GuitarStv. It was meant to be humorous. I, in no way meant to belittle or degrade any of you who have done scallop jobs.

Indeed buddy, I didn't take it as though you meant it towards me or any forum member so all's good here. I always got along with you and plan to keep it that way, my reply was tongue in cheek in itself and then when I read back on the entire thread I kinda regretted saying that but it wasn't directed at you.

I actually agree with you that most people probably should not touch power tools and there is plenty of photographic evidence online to support that. hahaha!

Absolutely!

Now as soon as I can get those other pics to load I'll get those posted up. I have to transfer them from my ipad to my laptop, because for some reason if I post from the ipad they are upside down. The ones I did posy may even show good enough detail but my laptop screen leaves a lot to be desired in the pixel department and they don't look good on my end.

How's your project coming along JBfromhell, did you dig into it yet? I have another neck here that I was thinking about doing just for the hell of it, so if you want I can take pics of the process as I go and show you how I do it.

I know for sure I don't have pics showing the whole thing as I said, but I do have the very beginnings of that BCRich neck which shows some of how I do it. I can also take pics of my Dremel and sanding drums and some of the "tools" I made for the job, and other little tips and tricks I learned to help save time and be more efficient with your work.

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I've been away from the site for too long. That neck work looks fantastic!!! Did you ever post any information on the steps involved? I have a 20 year old neck I can practise on, but that's after I attempt a fret job.

I've had this Peavey Predator for over a decade, haven't played it much for at least half that time. One thing that keeps it out of circulation is the low frets. They're in good shape, but just really small. Couple this with never having owned a scalloped neck, and I think I'm gonna take a crack at modding it.

I'm not intending to go as deep as the pics, just enough to not feel the board.

I just posted a link I was going to use before I lost interest in the project. I've never had the patience or foresight to take pictures of any project while working on it.
