First off, let me skip the ( irrelevant ) advise stuff, and say thank you for posting, and welcome to the forum.

After that, I would say that I scored a Dinky off eBay some time ago, which I left intact, including EMGs. I have plenty of other guitars, so a dedicated hard-rocker ( although I infrequently use it ) is kind of fun to have around. I asked around about replacement necks, but nobody would talk to me, so you're on your own there.

The main thing that really bugged me about the Dinky was the Floyd Rose, and the locking nut. I swear I'm going to kill whoever made those standard.

Thanks for the welcome! I will try to have fun and do my best. lol I don't have a problem with the Floyd Rose, just that the neck and frets on the ESP may be too big. I'm not worried about the DK1 Jackson, but I think the RR1 I had was too big for me, so I have to compare everything to that and play something smalller.

I own an ESP M-II. It's a great instrument, no complains whatsoever with it. Definitely worth the money. I think that it has a really comfy neck. It's not thin as your typical Ibanez neck or the necks of a couple of my japanese jackson dinkies. The fret size is nice imo too, definitely not too big, but I like them about as big as they come. If you have any more questions fire away.

Thanks for the input. I do like the MII, but I really need a kill switch for sound effects (ala VH or Randy). On a Jackson I could just take out the tone knob (which I would do anyway) and put a mini toggle there. But on the ESP, I would either have to have a hole drilled or disconnect the neck PU and use the pickup toggle for a kill switch. Which do you think I should do? I don't use the neck PU anyway, just to let you know. Is it wise to drill a hole through the middle of a brand new guitar?

I have 1 ESP guitar - an M1 nek-thru from the late 80s. It's nice, but I have about a dozen Jacksons that I really love. I like the neck shape better and the ebony / MOP fretboard. Just looks cool!

The Jackson's do look cool. I have to admit, and that takes care of my mini toggle problem. It already has a hole drilled. I can't make up my mind. :boggled:

ESP trust me, great neck, fretwork is amazing, and built like a tank. I was a Jackson guy for a loooong time, but got an MII and all my Jacksons went away and more ESPs came in!

The neck has a nice full feeling to it and the frets feel about the same as the Jacksons. I dare say ESP has better necks than Jackson IMHO. You can't go wrong, PULL THE TRIGGER ON THE ESP!

Well if you don't use the neck pickup then the pickup switch is useless, right? Would make sense putting it to some use. And the ESP doesn't have a tone knob so you'd have only what you need there. With the Jackson you'd have an extra picup switch or tone knob that'd only be in the way.

I guess I could buy the ESP now to see if I like them since I have never played one. I have played a couple of Jackson just not a DK1. I could always buy a Jackson later, also. Why not have both. I'll just get the ESP now. Thanks for the help everyone. I will post pictures when I get it. Don't let me stop the discussion though. I still want to hear opinions about these guitars.
