do elp me kind sir, iffen you please!!!

So if i'm a young guitarist getting a first amp but have reasonably good taste and high standards but $400 or less in my pocket what sort of amp should i get. mind you, it must not be related to metal playing, has to be at least a hybrid tube, and good for any sort of blues, classic, or modern rock (think of the wide span in my user name). oh, and it needs to be at least 10 watts (crowd versatility).

A good plan of attack is to play a bunch that are in the $700 price range, so you know what you like, then go on Craigslist and search your favorite brands by creating a price margin of $275 - $500. A lot of good tube amps like Fender Hot Rods, Laneys, Peaveys, Crates, and Vox CC's fall into that price point.
