Hi!
I have installed in 2005 a Livewire Metal in my vintage mockingbird. Since I have change my amp and now I own a Peavey 6505+ with Mesa Boogie Recto Cab. At a time, I change my pickup to try the emg 81 but I reinstall my livewire after 2 days (lol). When I change my pickup to EMG, I put 25k volume and when I reinstall the livewire, my sound become less fuzzy and with more punch, so I stay the 25 k pot in it (maybe I will try a 50k but 100k is totally to fuzzy). I also have to setup the livewire far away from the string (like 1/8'') to have a cleaner sound.
The thing is I like the livewire alot for its crunchy punch and its singing tone but is there any others duncan (actve or not) that can be compare to it? Personnaly I try the JB but I don't like it alot (not enought punch, too less bass and mids!).
My type of sound would be something close to Dave Mustaine & Chris Poland on Megadeth 2005 record The System has Failed.
