do i need to wire in series or change phase (pic included)

this shows how i have my bass currently wired; i know how to reverse phase but not put the pups into series. i think i need to reverse phase on the neck pup because it is thin and weak when the neck is on full blast. my j pup can get drowned out too but is still much stronger and clearer than the neck pup. should i reverse the phase of the neck pup, put them all into series or both? the selector switch activates either the neck or bidge pup and the middle remains un affected by the switch and is on all the time.

Sounds like your neck problem is, more tecnically speaking, the polarity (as opposed to phase...got corrected on that a while back) of the pickups; your dimarzio's are gonna have the same polarity, so its just your SD that has an opposite polarity magnet to the others. To remedy that, yep swap the wires. (effectivly gives you RWRP)

As for the jazz pickup getting drowned out, maybe try raising the jazz pickup and lowering the other one? I'd try that before series wiring dual coils...Im a total ignoramous about basses really, but series wiring dual coil pickups sounds analgous to series wiring two humbuckers, and that would just be a mudfest..

Like I say, applying guitar theory here, just swap the wires of your neck pup to put it in phase with the others, and mabe adjust the height of your other two two even the outputs, before trying series wiring.

If you really want to series wire, then basically the hot of one pup needs to be fed into the ground of the other, i.e. the signal flows through one then through the next, then out.

hope this helps!

cool thanks, yea the neck pup is really what i wanted to take care of. ive adjusted the poll pieces on the bridge pup and its much better. i think ill just settle for reversign the phase.
