Here's my process:
1) convince myself that I need a new amp
2) buy the new amp
3) with the new amp at least half of my pedalboard gets obsolete and I need new pedals (I sell and fender reverb and get a Marshall so I sell my plexi in a box pedal and buy a reverb pedal for example)
4) tweak something in a guitar - now the JB sounds shrill so I put Alnico IIs
5) explain to my wife how this all makes sense
6) try to buy my original rig back

I find that when I get bored, the best thing is to learn new songs, or take some lessons.
But, I have a ridiculous collection of 60 guitars and 10 amps, so I never get bored with opening a guitar case.

I hear you on this man. I'm a tone freak and I can't ever be just satisfied.
First off I love my tone. When I play it inspires me to write and play longer but when that emotion hits and I hate everything, I don't even want to play and off to the hunt I go.
I go threw this from time to time and end up going right back to my original setup. What so damn funny about that is when I go amp shopping, I look for amps that sound like mine LOL. Nutty right? And when they don't I get annoyed and basically walk away depressed on some level.
I went as far as telling a salesman all he has is junk amps and they all suck ass. Not in those words but I said " is this amp Broken?" The salesman looked at me and was totally digging my tone I was getting when I was playing and said, "dude that sounds awesome". I hated it and moved on and on.
I was demoing a Mesa Boogie and a Blackstar and I couldn't get what I wanted out of either of them. The Series 1 from Blackstar is a fine amp but didn't sound as good to me as my amp. The Mesa was closer but sounded different and not different me liking it more but different me wanting my amp.
So I go on these adventures only to come home plug in and love my amp and feel relieved that my tone is in tact and I can play with grace.
I went to another shop and played the EVH 5150 amps which I have over the years many times and walked away not finding what I wanted. This time I pulled the trigger as I wanted the 2 x 12 combo but like the sound of the 50 watt head and 2 x 12 cabinet.
When I got it home I kept it for 4 days trying to best my amp with it which I couldn't do. My clean channel destroyed the 5150's and the drive channel I thought had to my fizz compared. My Gain channel was tighter and meaner which I like better.
I returned the 5150 head and cab and got my money back.
Effects is a nightmare for me. I love the sound of pedals but LOVE the control features of Multi Effects. I go back and forth between the 2 so many times it's not even funny. I'm mental with it. I think about the Multieffects units and think " They can build one of these things that can sound as good if not much better then pedals". But when I compare the 2, the pedal sound always wins when done properly with high quality cables, Bufferes, Pedal order and Isolated Power supplies.
Cost isn't even close, the Multi effects is 500% better value as the cost of building a pedal board is more then just about any or all Multi effects units on the market today. You could easily spend thousands of dollars on a pedal board and not have anywhere near the abilities of a Multi effects unit. nEven if you use affordable pedals, you will go right past the price of a Multi effects unit quick as you need power , a board , Volume or Wah or both just to get started. Noise gate and a bunch of short cables or a built it your self cable kit.Not fully needed but to compare then you need a switcher to control all the madness like a Boss ES-8 or some other brand Controller.That alone can cost more then your Multi effects unit like the Boss GT-100. With just the necessaries you can pass the price of a good quality Multi Effects unit already before you buy your first actual effects pedal.
In the end for me I always go back to pedals as I feel the sound quality is much better and doesn't color your amps natural sound like Multi Effects unit can. It's difficult to setup Multi Effects units to sound transparent. Pedals can be to if you use to many, don't use Buffers or Noise gates and not use high quality short as possible cables.
So yeah I get bored of my sound all the time. This time I'm gonna try to stick with Pedals and my amp. I've owned my amp for 10 years for a reason, it does it for me. New Tubes and a fresh tune up is always a refreshing way to get out of that BORED state.
Some tips that don't cost a lot to get out of that Bored state,
1) New Tubes
2) Tune up of your amp
3) New or different strings on your favorite guitar
4) Get a new pedal , it's about as fun as it gets. I'm tickled pink when I get one.
5) Go to the local shops , play every amp that you think you could want , then go back home and rock yours. If you still love your amp, just a fun day out playing different stuff.
6) Try out new pickups, they are cheap and fun. They can drastically change the way you sound and make your current rig sound incredible.
7) Learn a completely different kind of song. I'm a metal guy and I just decided to learn some Beatles tunes.

I don't really get bored, and I jumped off the 'I need that piece of gear to play well' train. In other words, I am really happy with what I have.
I constantly challenge myself to play things I can't currently play. I listen to music I don't always understand. I am always trying to create music that I would want to listen to, but can't find anywhere. After 30+ years of playing, I still have a ton to learn.
So, write music. Join a band. Listen to something you don't usually listen to. Go see live bands. Meet other musicians. Stop playing music that is boring to you. Pick up your guitar, and think of what you usually start playing, and don't play it. In other words, discard being on 'autopilot' and relying on muscle memory. Use a sound you usually would never use.

if the need arises. Like last night I started practicing live with a drummer and my rig couldn't keep up. I need more power. lol

Always, I've convinced myself I need small b/f & tweed fenders but the truth is I don't.
I did notice you have some pretty big amps, are you able to play them loud enough to get the most out of them, valve amps in 1st gear are pretty uninspiring.
Have you tried some 15-30 watt amps?

I know what you're saying, but I don't have enough free time to get bored with anything. My tastes change, though, and when I quit liking the sounds I used to like I start shopping for something to take me in a new direction. The amp I've used for almost 15 years doesn't do it for me anymore. You might say I am bored with the sound, but it's more accurate to say that is has a boring sound ... too stale and sterile. It was great for a long time compared to one it replaced and now it needs to be replaced. I almost can't stand to play through it. Even pedals don't ease the pain.

I'm quite a simpleton guy, plug-in-and play, no frills. My set up is relatively straight forward, one main pickup used (bridge humbucker) on my guitar, into a high gain tube amp, a tubescreamer and a footswitch. 2 sounds, crunch/clean and main dirty riffing. Less to break and go wrong live, I have played in bands before though with more effects, and multiple guitars, but I just find this setup is easy, and still sounds great!
Maybe in the future I'll get into a band again where I'll have to use choruses/delays/etc and have some more textures going on.

When I get bored, I go months without playing. Makes it really easy to develop your skills that way.

I just bought two chord books and one for scales. I will unplug for weeks at a time and play either acoustic or electric unplugged.
