I've made a few pics of a build I'm working on a few days ago. It's a solid quilt maple body (A grade, not AAA, unfortunately), with a 9 ply exotic neck (That MUST off-set the body's quilt quality?
), 25.5'' scale, 24 frets, 10''-16'' radius macassar ebony fretboard, gold Gotoh 1996T Floyd Rose, two gold humbuckers, wenge headstock cap and wenge backplates.
So...
question.
Do you wanna see the build process? It will be a kinda fast topic since the guitar has to be done within a week.
OH, pickups will be a JB/Fullshred Alnico II hybrid in bridge (gold cover) and 59/Jazz hybrid in neck (gold cover, too). Easy wiring, may I add.
So far, I've put in 12 hours.
Let's start with a standard neck blank, standard body blank and a fretboard.
Later I decided to use a different neck, though, as I came to realize this neck blank was made for a 24.75'' 22 fret neck: I was missing 1/2 inch. damn.
OK, I skipped a few photos. sorry. but here's the neck. right height off the body, right angle in the body, everything seems fine!
Backside. here you can see the new neck: ovangkol core, zebrano pinstripes, bubinga wings and the cores fillers are of figured moabi (like mahogany, but harder and doesn't need
A couple of hours of sanding and shaping later, we get this.
This is the stage it is in now: LOTS of clearcoats. Now: we wait.
