Do you have a seperate computer just for recording?

Do you have a computer that is strictly for recording purposes and another for internet, games, etc? Or do you do it all on one?

Seperate. I think it's best to keep them dedicated and lean on the OS - don't install or run stuff that's not needed for music production and keeping the machine healthy. That said I do internet on my music machine for installing software updates etc.

I prefer a non-computer type recorder, like a fostex, roland, etc. But when I do editing of tracks or mixes on the computer, I use the same one I play games on, look at porn, spill beer on, etc.

I have a laptop which I use for work and a desktop for everything else, including recording. I don't see any issues in using a general purpose pc, as long as you are aware what the potential bottlenecks may be and that you have control over these.

I voted 'yes', though in truth it's 'sort of'. The 4th bedroom in our house is known as 'the music room', & I have all my guitar stuff in there. There is a pc in the room that I use just for recording, but my kids use it to watch videos &/or play games.

My intarweb pc is in our bedroom, so no guitar playing going on in there (my wife is typically asleep 2 hours before me on weekdays, 4-5 on weekends). When I have a clip done & ready to upload, I use a 256mb thumb drive to transfer the file from pc to pc. I keep all the same music programs on both pc's, so I can tweak the clip on the web pc if need be.

I've thought about networking the pc's, but I like the idea of my kids not being able to go online unless they're in the master bedroom. Keeps their pc time down, & makes for easy parental monitoring.

I voted yes, but I surf on the recording computer. That's about it though.

No - my music computer is my everyday computer.

I've only had problems doing both on a PC - it's much easier to keep my Mac clean.

Nah, the PC I built covers all my bases. I couldn't afford a second computer anywho
