Do you have any pedals that you just really, really like?

Re: Do you have any pedals that you just really, really like?

Digitech metal master- is my go to dirt box. Hands down best overall squealing distortion ever.

Metal Muff nano, I think it sounds so much better than its big brothers, it's creamy good when I don't need all the sparkle of the aforementioned dirtbox.

Ibanez soundtank delay..... It's stupid how I've bought and sold 6 other delay pedals and always come back to this cheap thing, it just sounds right to me.

My Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe suits me just fine. I know there are more sophisticated, lusher vibes available but I haven't tried any and don't feel the need to. I wish I could use it more often... like on every song and every solo! hahaha!

I have to say the T.C Electronics MojoMojo Overdrive.

Re: Way Huge Red Llama

I've been thinking about trying one of those out.

While I like my Green Rhino and Overrated Special, the big surprise was the Red Llama.

If you plug into a 59 Bassman 410, you realize they're too loud to crank all the way up, so the Red Llama simulates it very well. It's sort of like the opposite of a Tube Screamer.
It's got big bottom, wide mids, and a crunchier top end. I love it for electric slide.

A agree on the Red Llama, killer pedal. Definitely check one out.

waiting on the camel toe

The Maxon OD 820 comes to mind in the spirit of this post. I like a lot of overdrives, but my big green Maxon seems to fit in seemlessly with all of my amps. Whether she's pushing my Boogies, or my Fenders or my Marshalls.
(Runner up: Any Love Pedal OD)

My ISP Technologies Decimator pedal is something I don't want to live without. They released a "better" one but I'll never use a different gate and I have it written that it is to be buried with me.

The ZVEX super hard-on is my goto boost. It's perfect. Don't even look at mine...you can't have it.

I feel the same way about my old Crate G40C XL carpet covered amp that I traded. You will never find a more BULL$h!T amp, but d@mmit if the chorus wasn't BEAUTIFUL.
The amp wasn't working so I traded it to a dude for a pedal. I still can't find a chorus I like that much.

Re: Do you have any pedals that you just really, really like?

Hermida Zendrive: it's as much a compressor as it is a dirt box.

The chorus on my GK 250ML is so 80s but in a good way. Something about 80s chorus sounds dated and awesome at the same time.

Re: Do you have any pedals that you just really, really like?

Earlier, I mentioned what the Red Llama does into a clean amp, but tonight I tried it into my JCM 800. Amazing.

The Red Llama is one of those pedals that's a must have for OD afficionados. It's fat and gutsy no matter how you use it.

It's also discontinued, but not hard to find. I think I like it more than the Green Rhino and Overrated Special.

If WH ever comes out with a new Camel Toe, just buy it.

The MXR Carbon Copy has been my guilty pleasure for years now, I just can't seem to get rid of it. I've had some awesome, fairly high end delay units on my board, but when I go to compare them side by side the CC just has a magic to the repeats that can't be matched. Kind of a weird resonating grittiness, like it's on the verge of self-oscillation. Sometimes it reminds me more of a tape-delay than an analog delay. Being an analog circuit, I also like how it makes my core sound a little darker and warmer.

I leave it on pretty much all the time in my jazz or solo gigs, just as a tone fattener and to give a bit of 'space' to my sound.

I'm planning on ordering a Boss DM-2w when my next paycheck comes in, I'm kind of secretly hoping it'll finally be the one to knock it off my board.

Man I love pedals. I just really wanted to say that again.

Re: Do you have any pedals that you just really, really like?

For the last year or so I've been obsessed with the Pete Cornish CC-1. It's one of those rare pedals that just sounds so good with different applications. It's main use is for leads and what makes the pedal so special is the character of the clipping and the powerful EQ section. I tried for years to find the perfect pedal for pushing overdriven or crunchy rhythm parts without making things saturated or muddy and the CC-1 is it. Cornish pedals are known for their clarity even under ridiculous amounts of gain and that's what makes it work so well for this application.

I love that when I want to use it for more of a tweed rhythm through a clean amp I can easily dial it in for that as well and there's a way it just plays nice with so many different sounds and textures that makes it invaluable.

I liked the SS-3 a lot and it's still the best pedal distortion I've owned, but the CC-1 is really the pedal that I can't do without. It's the Klon I wanted my Mojotone K2 klone to be. It's knocked off every tubescreamer and every clean boost I've ever owned off my board and there's no way I'll ever sell it.

I have to say the combination of my Son of Hyde and Open Road pedals are a sound I love. I like each on their own, but stacked with the gain knobs no higher than 50% is sonic gold, IMHO.
