I went through that 80s thing of not even considering a guitar without a floyd rose, so I know how to make 'em behave. But over all, I prefer the feel and tone of a vintage bridge.
I am strangely attracted to the new speedloader guitars, though. Can one of you guys try one of the lower end models out and give me a review, as I'm certain no local importer will pick them up.

I used them in the 80's, then completely ditched Floyds and all trem bars in the 90's.
About a year ago, I realized that I'd like to have another guitar with a Floyd, mostly due to the GAS caused by this forum, so I bought my G&L Invader. I do like Floyds, but they just aren't ME anymore. I don't need them. I just sold the last guitar I'll ever own with a Floyd, this week.
I used them in the 80's, then completely ditched Floyds and all trem bars in the 90's.
About a year ago, I realized that I'd like to have another guitar with a Floyd, mostly due to the GAS caused by this forum, so I bought my G&L Invader. I do like Floyds, but they just aren't ME anymore. I don't need them. I just sold the last guitar I'll ever own with a Floyd, this week.

On the new Aerosmith DVD, the other guitarist (not sure of his name, it wasn't Joe Perry) is playing one of the new Floyd Rose guitars, guessing it's one of the more expensive models, and I don't remember him using the bar. I'll have to look at it again, but he sounded good to me. Those guys have access to tons of gear, so unless they were paying him to play it, it must be a pretty decent guitar. He was using it onstage and in the studio (bonus material making of Honking on Bobo footage). On a side note, Aerosmith must have somebody on the payroll to hunt vintage gear for them becuase they just have piles of it.

not anymore i used to love floyds, i don't mind them now but i like a thicker fuller sound with more sustain and a floyd tends to thin out a guitar and take some sustain away so they just don't fit my needs. that's why i switched to fixed bridge and string through guitars for the most part.

I went from a Warlock with a Floyd, to a Strat with a vintage trem, to my hardtail Warmoth, and the hardtail wins...
I'd like to try a Bigsby or Wilkinson tho...

I block them for sure.....I also block my pick...big block...hmm is dat not a Jeff tune
I only use Gotoh or OFR blocks though.
