Does anyone else have a Kaoss Pad?

Re: Does anyone else have a Kaoss Pad?

I haven't used one. But I have the Alesis AirFX. It's not really the same, but the reason I mention it is that both units have realtime control over parameters, which is easier to use with prerecorded tracks. I keep mine hooked up to my DJ setup, but I have tried it with my guitar. The best use for things like this would be recording or live remixing, but neato for experimenting.

Re: Does anyone else have a Kaoss Pad?

I jammed with a guy who had one a bunch many years ago. He mostly used it for vocals, but we did some harmonica and guitar stuff too. He'd just kinda hold chords or notes and jab at the pad randomly.

Check out Nels Cline from Wilco demonstrating his.

Juliette has one on her Melody Maker.

Re: Does anyone else have a Kaoss Pad?

One of the lead singers we had in my last band had one. He used it to make annoying noises in parts of the songs that he felt needed annoying noises. I wanted to bring my .44 and put a 240 grain JSP through that damn thing, the other guitarist wanted to bash it with a sledge hammer and the drummer and bassist wanted to throw it on the ground and stomp it to death. You know how much those guys on Office Space hated that fax machine? Um, yeah........ :banghead:

But we tolerated it because at the time he was our only option........eventually he quit and took his noisemaker with him.

But I have heard that they can be used for other much more useful things. :)

I think it would be awesome for space rock, WANT

I dig Monster Magnet and saw them live last year, singer does that sort of stuff with feedback with his guitar; it would be cooler if he did it with the chaos pad tho

of course yall know about Muse guitarist that has chaos pad and a fuzz pedal built in to his guitar, that would be even better!!!

The Mini Kaoss Pad 2 is pretty affordable to mess around with... Might have to experiment.
