Does anyone make a tune o matic bridge for an LP that isn't pot metal?

I've been looking for a black tune o matic bridge for my 70's Tribute LP and the only thing I can find is stuff made out of that zamac crap.

Anyone got any better leads?

Tonepros is a higher quality bridge, but made from similar material.
The you've got Faber, Callaham and Pigtail....in order of price.
(plus Gibson historic)

All will have different tonal properties

If you can't find what you need in black, you can always have a local plating business do it.

Callaham makes theirs from steel and Steve at Pigtail makes one from aluminum past that all the other's I know about are zinc

I recommend Callaham, I was blown away by the quality and tonal improvements gained when I upgraded my Strat bridge... I did the full replacement bridge and it is worth every penny...

That's what I was wondering. Looks like a cool idea, but it doesn't say what materials are used.

I love both of my bridges. From the FAQ on his site.

What materials are used in the "Full Contact Hardware" ? The majority of the components used in manufacturing the "Full Contact Hardware" are aluminum. All FCH Saddles are anodized aluminum. The FCH Saddle Housings are extruded aluminum and are plated in chrome, black nickel or gold. The FCH Baseplates are extruded aluminum and are plated in chrome, black nickel or gold.

Check out the Graph Tech ResOmax saddles. Graph Tech claims they're made out of an alloy material, I suspect aluminum but Graph Tech doesn't specify. They are designed for harmonic improvement over the pot metal saddles from Gibson. They look impressive but I have yet to try one. I use the Graph Tech TUSQ PTFE infused nuts & saddles exclusively. They're great.

Thanks man! I didn't see that part. They may be my only option since Pigtail or Callaham doesn't offer black as an option. Not a fan of the huge logos on the stuff though. I could go with nickel for the hardware on my LP, but I have a vision dam it!

It could still be zinc. Technically, most current bridges used are a zinc alloy. If I'm not mistaken, it's a powdered metal that's molded, polished then heat treated to add strength to the alloy.

From what I've read about the Babicz bridges they are good stuff better the a TOM supposedly.

It seems like most bridges are cast or sintered. You would think you could find something forged or machined?

I don't know about the others, but I bought a Pigtail intonatable wraparound for my LP JR and the quality is superb. Also a huge change in tone. FYI, getting the matching studs is worth it. Dan Erlewine also raves about the Pigtail bridges.

It seems you and I have similar challenges.

Why does Gibson insist on this soft, silly metal for guitar and bass bridges, when even melting down a few soda cans for billet aluminum would be both "green" and "metal as a mofo"?
