I don't mind paying a good price for a good pickup, but because 90% of them turn out NOT to be what i wanted i no longer am willing to buy anything but fairly cheap stuff. I find they are just as hit or miss as high end stuff. So i really want to stay cheap here. What i'm looking for is a P90 thats clearer and janglier than a regular P90, which no dobt means less of that P90 middiness. I have a LP special and i love the stock p90 in the bridge, but the neck is way too dark on the wound strings and it's hard to get the sound i want. I mainly use the neck on any guitar for semi clean to clean playing by turning the guitar way down to clean up. (yes, i have a bleed cap) I like that wind crys mary kind of thing with just a bit more dirt than that, but i DO realize thats not going to happen. I just want it to be a bit closer to that direction than the muddy thing it is now. I read somewhere A2 leans that way even tho the few A2 pickups i had didn't seem too. But they were hot so that may be why. Tonerider makes a p90 A2 that describes it as being clearer and brighter than a regular P90 for just over $50 on ebay. Anyone try those? I know GFS is cheap, but do any of them do that cleaner less middy thing i need? any other ones that might fit my needs and are cheap? oh, and i've exhausted all polepiece and overall height adjustments. It DOES get a lot clearer very very close to the strings, but it then is hotter which i don't want and it still has too much mids to get sweet.
