Does anyone run a stereo amp rig?

Re: Does anyone run a stereo amp rig?

I have run two identical amps in "stereo"--mono guitar into two Mesa Maverick 212 combos. Great sound with stereo reverb/delay chorus. Time consuming to set up, takes up a lot of stage space, loud, can have noise issues. (Anybody want to buy my now "spare" nice Maverick? I don't need two. LOL.)

From what I understand, using a "Stereo" guitar, like Gibson ES-345s or -355s, where you have neck pickup going into one amp and the bridge pickup going into a different amp is also a PITA to work with on a regular basis. Most guys just use a stereo to mono cable to combine them.

I have run an A/B setup with a couple of configurations. The last one I did was a Fender 75 head on a Fender GE112 cab with an EV Force speaker; and on top of that sat an original Fender Super Champ 110 combo with an EV 10". Dynamite rig, basically dimed the Super Champ for my lead tones. I also tried this with a vintage Deluxe Reverb, but the DR didn't really work in either position--not clean enough for the bottom; too loud for the top. A Marshall JCM 800 I had at the time didn't work either. It sounded best when the power tubes were working hard, so like the DR, it kind of fell into no man's land.

These days, even though I have a stable of Mesa Boogie amps, it is one at a time for me.

You should also look at some of the offerings from Radial Engineering, like the CabBone, SwitchBone, and HeadBone switchers. One of these might be more effective for your needs.
