Yeah...the only new G12-65 you can get is in the Heritage series...they do a Heritage 65, greenback and G12H30...all of them are $180.

The G12-65 uses the same magnet frame and cone as the Greenback but the large dust caps takes away some of the top end giving a slightly deeper tone and the higher power voice coil also adds to that.

Is yours a Heritage or is it an original one??

Mine is a Heritage. Just took a closer look. Sounds great to me!

The Heritage speakers are tops!

The Heritage Greenback is a close copy of the old G12M20, the heritage G12H30 has the 55 Hz cone and the Heritage 65 is supposed to be just as good if not better than the originals...very cool speakers but none of them are cheep!

It's funny though...

I like to read the reviews on Harmony Central sometimes just to get an idea of what people think of things and I read a review there where a guy said the Heritage G12-65 speaker was crap and that he only played the old ones which he gave a "10".

I'd assumed mine was an oldie because it's made in England. But it's not an oldie. Regardless, I just keep liking it more and more and I'm starting to feel like I like it even better than the G12H30 which had been my favorite Celestion speaker for quite a while.

The G12-65 seems to have more texture...but it could be the amp. It's a pretty spectacular sounding Marshall, IMO. I've owned four of them and this one is my favorite.

The G12-65's have some of that textured midrange of a Greenback to my ears but they do have more bottom (or maybe less top??)...

All of the Heritage speakers as well as both the blue and gold alnicos are still made in England...

I have no clue what he uses but, he is cool.

Scott L uses those speakers in one of his setups with a Fuchs amp.....most fat and sweet at the same time.....
But then again....that guy sounds great no matter what!
I love those speakers....I am getting two of those for a special CM Amp head and a two 12" cab!

Lew! You keep praising that JCM 800 amp of yours! That`s great! Glad i have one too! Mine has the Celestion 'Vintage 30' speaker.

Have you had a chance to turn yours up a bit? I turned mine way down with the master set very, very low and the gain way up just to see if the bass control stopped having much of an effect at extremely low settings of the master volume control. Mine still works but its effect is diminished a little bit when I set the master extremely low. I'm just wondering if that is the problem with yours: that you're playing it so quietly that the tone controls don't have as much effect as they normally would. Lew
