Fender ultra strat. The body has been re finished in a different polly finish(about 10 yrs ago). The neck is also not original. body and pickups...all orinigal

1. good deal for 900$

2. can someone give me some info on fender ultra strats? ive never heard of that model before.

Originally came with figured tops...don't know why they would paint over it.

They're asking too high. You can buy a STOCK Strat Plus for that price that has not been refinished and had the neck and swapped. Why would they refinish it? Sounds like a partscaster being passed off as a stock Fender.

If I recall, they went for around $900 new. I'm suspicious of the factory refinish, during those years Fender used poplar bodies with heavy bondo type primer and a thick finish, so it would be difficult to strip it down to the wood for a proper refinish. Non-original neck brings down the value as well.

At the time, the Ultras were their top of the line, but it should have a roller nut if I remember correctly. Instead of American Standard pickups, they had the Lace Sensor pickups. Many people don't like the Lace Sensors unless they're hooked up to the 25 db boost found in the Eric Clapton strats (and in the past, Buddy Guy strats as well).

Not at all worth 900, maybe 500

Doesn't seem right to me. Why would they change necks and refinish a guitar like that?
I wouldn't trust it.

That one looks good but I think that's a high price for a Refinished Body and Non-Original Neck. Check the prices on eBay if you can find an Ultra. They are pretty BadAss Geetars though. :friday:

Been doing a lot of research on these models lately and I seem to agree with everything said before, body seems original but refinishing (even though I love the actual color) decreases value, also you don't know where the neck comes from, that alone makes it not worth it for me as you'll be missing on the locking tuners and roller nut. If you .can get a significantly lower price cool, if not stay out of it.

It's probably just a Strat Standard with an Ultra pickguard dropped in!

Edit: Especially as the original should have a roller nut I think...
