In general, I don't like PUs with ceramic magnets. I can't tell exactly why, but all humbuckers I have tried so far (be it active or passive) that I didn't like were ceramics.
Strange as it may seem there is only one exception to this rule: the Gibson 500T (or PRS Tremonti Treble, which is said to be at least heavily influenced by the 500T)!:nervous:
What makes me wonder: If I could find a PU that sounds close to a 500T but has alnico magnets in it, I should be in absolute PU heaven.
So my question to all you PU gurus is: Which alnico powered humbucker sounds closest to a 500T?:scratchch
