Double Hex Screw APH-1N on Charvel DK24s?

Well it could be an APH-N made specifically for Charvel woth the hex polesor it could a lag in updating the material

I have no idea, but I love this idea. I'd love to know how it changes the sound. The APH-2 is my favorite neck pickup in a solid body

it's definitely made for charvel because they come without logo as well, i'm curious how different they sound

I can only assume it makes the pickup a little warmer; fatter and less hot, but that's just a guess

Um, at 0:28 seconds, and starting at 1:01 he demonstrates the neck pickup and all the switches. Sounds quite Fendery. Am I missing something?

Double screw in the neck does indeed make it more fendery and bite-y. If you use hexz it scoops out some bass and makes it click-y. Probably not much different than a Full Shred neck with an A2.

interesting, are they the same wind?

I hear that in the video. Loses what I like about the A2P.

Why would they go to this trouble rather than just use a Full Shred neck to go with the bridge? This double-hex A2P sounds nothing like an A2P and matches the bridges - wouldn't a FS neck match even more?

Pretty tasteful classic modern tone imo. Slightly different flavor I guess.

I assume they didn't like the tone of the full shred neck.

Originally these guitars came with a Jazz in the neck, then they moved to A2P with double hex, it probably sounded a bit closer to what they wanted.

These guitars seem to be modelled after their Guthrie Govan signature guitar which has custom MFB pickups, I think they are trying to make these sound as close to those MFBs as they can because they can't legally put the MFB in other guitars (agreement with the artist etc).

so the hex A2P is probably closer to the MFB than the full shred or jazz.

Well, and A2P and Jazz are known to be the same coils, different magnet, so there's that.

Maybe they asked duncan to make a Jazz but with hex screws to match the Full Shred.

And perhaps duncan found a hex screwed jazz to be too bright so he put an A2 in it and that's why it is labelled as an A2P, i think this sounds like it could've been what went down.

I'm actually wondering if the marketing department got it wrong and it's really an FS neck. (Not ruling out A2P / double hex, but just based on gear experience and errors I've seen in the past.)

it is very likely because they can't even post the correct specs for the bridge humbucker (it lists as SH-10 while they are really TB-10 on most models).

I've also gotten pretty bad consistency from the Charvel customer service, I inquired about the MFB pickups once and got 2 different results everytime;

first time the DC resistance was wrong (they sent the info of the middle pickup while i asked about the bridge)
then the 2nd time the info didn't match up with what a Thegearpage user said who owned the guitar (charvel said the neck was a ceramic while the owner said it was A5, the TGP guy said he checked for himself).

So it's not farfetched that it could be a Full Shred neck, maybe someone who is familiar with the Full Shred neck and has tried one out can chime in :D
