Yeah, this is something I've been thinking about for quite some time. Doing something like having a dual-humbucker guitar, but fitting it with four single-coil-sized humbuckers. The main problem I see, would be that you'ld have the north pole of one magnetic field laying next to the south pole of the other. That could create an oddball tone, even cancelling some of the signal from the two adjacent coils.
Its one of those things that would just have to be tried to see. (Or hear.)

yea the WD motherbucker (i believe kent armstrong actually makes that pickup tho.. ?) is 2 hotrails combined to give a massive 27.5k dc resistance (thats the hottest passive pickup ive ever heard of... duncan distortions are 16k dc resist..)
i want to try it but it seems a bit weird to wire, it comes with alot of extra wires so you can hook it up with alot of splitting options... or atleast thats what i remember reading.. but it says its possible to hook up as just a plain double coil pickup without any splitting
you can find info on it at www.kentarmstrong.com go to pickups then use the search box and type motherbucker or something, i dunno youll find it

The humbuckers in the PRS 513 are tappered bukers. That means you can get the tone of a humbucker made of two coils or tapper both coils for a more vintage, low output tone. And you can split it also...

i LOVE rails pickups
! X2N's are my fav but thats probably because duncan doesnt have a variety of humbucker sized rail-type pickups

He would put as many hot rails' you could fit in a guitar, and play it trough a wall of marshalls while having a bubble bath in caviar :laugh2:

wow, i think a pickup with two hotrails would be WAYY too hot. I think it would sound so gross and abrasive. I"m curious though.

Hot but not uncontrollable, fat, punchy, and I assume their bassy since I have not compared them with other pickups. I actually like them, especially for stock pickups, then again I seem to have a different taste for tone then most of you since I like the AVT series, Dimarzios, and shredder tones.
