I've never been much on spalted maple, BUT......that is very nice looking. The price isnt to bad either.

Pretty wood. Y'know, if Dean redesigned that butt-ugly headstock, they'd have a very nice guitar on their hands.

I wish PRS would do a thicker body width option on the hardtail's predecessors, the customs and mccartys.

I'd like to see a spalted maple top with a colored stain on it. I wonder why they never do that? Funnily, I probably make you jones for McCarties or Bogners, but I have to admit, you make me pay more attention to Hardtails. Some of those are really nice!

I love spalted maple finishes. That guitar looks great!

I do admit, I wish there was a better looking headstock.

Is it really THAT ugly? I actually think it's unique, and somewhat subtle compared to the rest of Dean's headstocks. It's certainly not as gaudy as a Warlock or B!tch headstock from B.C. Rich.

My guess is that since spalted maple is wood that has actually started to rot, it would soak up a ton of dye/color. It also may be fairly fragile...just a guess on my part.

You need one in your collection Jonesy. You may never play your McCarty again if you buy one of these!

I don't like the Hardtail because it looks like a bass body and i dont like the HS either. They do play fantastically though.

I adore spalted maple tops, i would take it over any flame top or quilt there is. Its so unique strange, and yet beautiful
