drum machine vs software drums

Re: drum machine vs software drums

It appears to me you need a soft sampler too to hold .wav or aiff files to be triggered by it.

How do I use EZplayer® pro?
You simply connect any track in EZplayer® pro to a track in your host pre-assigned to the sampler that you want to use as a sound source using the MIDI OUT function (check the manual found in the help menu of the EZplayer® pro interface for specific procedure in various programs).

true, i will need a sampler. but with this software i'm not limited in my choices. if i used the boss dr 880 i would be "stuck" with the default sounds. i'm sure its loaded with a lot of neato drum samples, but what made me even heavily consider the dr 880 is the ability to separate high hat, kick, snare grooves and reconstruct them into something i could use.

whatever option i choose i was never worried about sound. there is LOTS of good free and retail drum samplers (VSTs) out there. i would even consider using my own samples. ezdrummer, addictive drums, BFD, and others all sound amazing, but my weakness is groove, fills, and arrangement (what i refer to as "work flow").

this looks like a good groove enabler type of program. and for $40, cant go wrong with trying it as opposed to $500. as opposed to a "go fish" approach with 1000's of midi's, ezplayer pro looks like it can help me navigate, split, arrange and more.
