Drummer you would/would've most like(d) to jam with as a guitar player..

basically any drummer that has blown me away live or on a recording:

Charlie Zeleny (he killed it live with whiplash), dave lombardo (he's got such an organic feel and personality), mike smith (suffocation - can you imagine the stuff he would come up with over your riffs??), the confessor drummer (Steve Shelton), billy cobham (I'm talking inner mounting flame crazy cymbals), JC. Dwyer of raped ape (weird band name, sick drums), that mean redhead from cream, Nicholas Barker (love his work on cruelty and the beast), and the dude with the glasses that was with machine head then sacred reich.

The more I think about it, the more happy I am with my current drummer. He has a ton of Ward and Bonham DNA, and Moon comes out bit at times. The best thing is that after 35 years off and on, there is very little communication needed to get what I need/want out of him.

Dude, are you seriously comparing your having to hear swear words to human trafficking? I've heard a fair bit of swearing in my life, but this is more offensive than any of it.

Pretty sure he's having us on. Bet he was browsing multiple porn channels & gratifying himself as he typed that. It's all tongue-in-cheek w/ GuitarDoc. He no more has 16th century puritan values than the late Hugh Heffner..

Using foul language has been around for centuries. Does that make it any less offensive? Does that make it ok?
Poisonous plants have been around since before animals evolved, but I still wouldn't want to eat them.

But if you're comfortable and happy listening to it, fine but don't promote it. Like porn...watch it if you want but don't start kidnapping young girls and selling them to the industry.

If you actually enjoy cursing and swearing, it's your life but maybe it's time to really evaluate your morals.

This is why mum should have rushed you right away to the hospital when she dropped you on your head as a child :bigthumb:

I kinda miss jamming w/ a real drummer now that my old band is done with.

We had two steady drummer's over the 30 or so years we were around ( plus a couple of other guys filled in for the odd gig or two) & they were both awesome drummer's & awesome dudes. The first being my college & football (soccer) team buddy who I started the band with & the second being a kid who had graduated from a famous drum institute in California ( forget which one :p) that my band's singer Vik knew somehow.

While the second guy was rock solid and had awesome chops & sense of groove/incredible timing etc, the first guy would often come up with fucking unbelievable stuff when we were jamming cuz he was all about feel. Technically he was'nt on the kid's (second guy's) level esp. w/ double-kicks/blast-beats etc & yeah, he definitely was'nt as solid behind the kit..

But having said that I'd often have "damn ..how in the living fuck did he do that??" moments jamming/playing live w/ him cuz he came up with some absolutely incredible stuff when he was on fire... :lmao:

No, you totally missed the point. I was comparing your right to privately experiencing something (anything...like swear words, or even porn) to publicly promoting it.

Mike Portnoy. Most know him from Dream Theater and the prog stuff, however he is just a time machine and the way he stays in the pocket even on simple stuff like here is just amazing!!

His work in Flying Colors is my favorite.

Although he's kind of a studio/sessions guy, John Macaluso.

He was even more awesome on the first ARK album, despite the thin/tinny/crappy production.

And of course w/ Yngwie:

On a more personal note...

Here's our second drummer improvising the double-kick parts of this track @ practice...

He did'nt have his double pedal that day, cuz it was at his tech's being looked over/worked on for the gig...so he played all the double-kick parts on the floor tom/everythng else :laugh2:

I miss jamming with that guy ..he moved out of town with his g/f & quit drumming entirely... :(

But yeah ..that's ^^ what I mean by a fun drummer to jam with & we were lucky to have had two in the band while it lasted :bigthumb:
