I've been rockin all afternoon and thought it would be fun to hear what other peoples settings are.

Heres what I have been using this afternoon

deep - in
presence - 7
treble - 6
mid - 7
bass - 7
tone shift - out
reverb - 4.5
gain - 6.5
volume - 2.5
red channel - lead two

:headbang:

J

Lead channel; Lead 1 sounds 800, lead 2 sounds mesa
Presence - 7
Treble - 7
Mid - 8
Bass - 7.5
Gain - 7
Volume - 2
No switches engaged

Classic channel: clean is very clean, crunch is more AC/DC
Gain: 2
Vol: 1
Equalization is same as above

The Gain & volume settings vary alot, everything else changes now and then, but these are my most common settings:

Setting 1

Presence - 5
Treble - 4
Mid -9
Bass -5

Setting 2

Presence - 9
Treble - 5
Mid - 10
Bass - 7

On a sort of related note....

Has anyone thought of a way to get the switches (deep, lead1, lead2, crunch, clean, etc.) into a footswitch of some sort?? I mean im not gonna go up and push a button on my amp to do a solo or add the deep switch when i switch to clean. Whoever found a way to do it should be given an award.

Deep Switch in
presence - 4.5
Treble -4
Mid -5
Bass -5
reverb - off on both channels

Ultra Channel
lead 2 for heavier stuff
lead 1 for classic er old stuff

vol - 4
gain - 4

Clean Channel
Clean for clean stuff
Crunch for that unbelievabley great marshall crunch tone
Vol - 6
gain - 4

I have the treble and presence alot lower because the lil demon is quiet bright in the alder body but that gives room for excellent bass eq with the deep switch...

Love My DSL 50 So much!!

Thats a pic of my halfstack, please indulge...

How is the DSL's clean? I know Marchall's are legendary for their krunch. But can one do clean, fusion type o stuff. Steely Dan Etc...

The DSl clean is pretty darn clean, although its no fender clean it still very clean..if you use E34L's you should get more headroom

the DSL 401 has EL84s, i love the cleans on it. really nice jazzy tone for strats heh

The cleans are superb to me! I've never played a fender, but man if it's better than the DSL cleans it must be nice. I really love the cleans, I'm glad too, because the DSL is so versatile. It's like every marshall amp and then some in one box.

I have been using this one alot lately on my dsl50:

deep: off
presence: 2
Treble: 6
Mids: 4
Bass: 8
Tonshift: ON
no reverb
volume: 3
gain: 7

do DSL's have enough gain to do some serious heavy metal? not nu metal but what you might call modern metal or metal core? also is the DSL loud enough for jamming etc.....

The DSL has alot of gain, and if it isnt enough for you (which i am doubtful) you can put a pedal in front of it. The DSL is a Marshall tube amp, this thing can get louder than hell itself. My 50 watt DSL can get waayy louder than anyone needs.

The reason I was wondering about the volume is because for the price difference between the 50 and 100. If the DLS 50 can get really loud it almost makes the 100 pointless.

The 50 can get just as loud as the 100. There is only a difference of a few decibels between the 50 and 100. The main reason i bought the 50 was because i can get the tubes cooking at lower volumes.

that's awesome, i would have never thought that the 50 could get as loud as the 100. is there a bug difference in tone at lower volumes?

there is a 3dB difference between 50 watt and 100watt amps...just something i learned from Robert.

but for any of you who have done physics 3db is actually twice or half the power...which means the 100watt is twice as loud as the 50 watt....but IMO the 50 is plenty loud for jamming...

The DSL100 (the one I have) has an obscene amount of gain. The tone is more mid-rangey and focused than a Mesa Rectifier, but it should be ideal for modern metal or metalcore. I play Killswitch Engage on a regular basis on mine and it sounds dead-on. As for jamming, the DSL100's way louder than it probably should be.:D

My settings look like this...

Tone Shift: ON
Deep: ON
Presence: 5
Treble: 8
Middle: 6
Bass: 8
Reverb A: 6
Reverb B: 0

Channel B/Ultra Gain
Lead 1: ON
Gain: 7.5
Volume: 4.5 for practice

Channel A/Classic Gain
Clean: ON
Gain: 5
Volume: 6

Yes with one cabinet a 100watt will only be 3db louder then the 50watt which is not a considerable difference. But with two 4x12 cabinets is where the 100watt head really shines with way more output then the 50watt head. I belive that with two 4x12 cabs the ohm splits to 4ohms and the head delivers 50watts a side.
50/50.
