Lately, I have experimented with the polepieces like used in the Invader which also have an interesting response on the tone since the magnetic field is spread out in a broader and less concentrated manner to the strings.
On the Alnico 59/Custom Hybrids, I have cut the screws flush with the bottom of the baseplate on a few to direct more of the magnetic field up to the strings... I am really liking this mod...
