Hi. Sorry for the dumb question. I purchased a gently used Fender MIM Fretless Jazz Bass for my son. I want to replace the stock pickups with SDs, b/c I heard they were the ones to use! I think I want passive, so he doesnt have to mess with battery replacement. He plays mostly pop and rock type stuff; not quite old enuf for a band to play out yet. Any suggestions out there for which pickups to use for this instrument? Thanks.

pop and rock? i think a hot jazz stack in the bridge with a classic jazz stack in the neck would be a very cool, versitle, toneful noiseless combo thatll let him play a variety of styles from the pop and rock he likes now, to more of a traditional motown sound to more modern styles
