Duncan Custom tb5

I have a strat with a floyd rose trem in it. It came with a Dimarzio hum which I didnt like at all. It sounded too "nasal" and midrange. I then went to a Full Shred in both Humbucker slots. The Full Shred "neck" was perfect as its res peak is around 8. That made it brighter and sounded more like a single coil when split. It also corrected the "too much bass fuzz sound" in the neck humbucker. However I didnt like the Full Shred "bridge" humbucker becouse its res peak is in the 5's and it sounds a little muted. I then went to a George Lynch Screamin Demon but it turned out to be too bright for my guitar. I think its res peak is around 7.
I finally picked up the Duncan Custom tb5 and it was perfect. Its res peak is around 6 and it has a pronounced midrange that just pushes my amp in a great way. The bass is tight but not over the top and the highs are defined. It also splits well with the other humbucker. It has that nice strat quak tone in position 4 and position 3 with both humbuckers on full it has a cool Zepplyn type tone like on "the Ocean"
This pickup really works well with my Floyd Rose equiped strat. Kudos to Seymour for this design!

Full Shred neck, Custom bridge. Man like he knows it. Some part of me wants to try that combination in every guitar I own.

Re: Duncan Custom tb5

The Custom is my favorite Duncan bridge pickup. Simple huge in a Les Paul.

Ya the ceramic mag on the custom lends itself well to the alnico bar of the full shred neck model pickup with its high res peak of 8. It really is a great combo cuz the custom has enough juice to beat any magnetic string pull the neck humbucker might try to steal from the sustain. It also drives the tubes of my amps without sounding all scooped and compressed but it still has plenty of drive and sustain. It sounds like a single coil would sound when its split. It doesnt over power the neck pickup when both are split into single coils to work together. Instead it blends real well. I should have done it alot sooner but I was worried a ceramic pickup would sound brittle instead of kicking @ss like it does.
