Duncan Designed Detonator , Any Thoughts On These?

Hi guys, I just ordered one of these last night for my ESP LTD M-15 ,which I'm going to put in the bridge poosition. Anybody have any imput on these pickups ? Most of the reviews I read on Musician's Friend were pretty good, but I'd like to know if any of you here on the forum have any experience with these.

There was a thread not too long ago talking about putting alnico 8 in them.
From what can tell there are many that favor them over the invader

Yup, put an A8 in it and it's one of the best Duncan pickups ever.

As far as "budget" pickups go, it's truly one of the best. I've actually swapped out regular USA Duncans for these before!

The Detonator is awesome straight out of the box and very responsive to mag swaps, as the others mentioned. I would suggest trying it in its stock configuration first, but don't be afraid to try the mag swaps if the stock tone doesn't do it for you!

Excellent value for sure.

I had one for a while in a mahog superstrat. I liked it but I was a super hot pup guy back then and got rid of it. I plan on getting another one day.

I had a thread on this pup, and Evan says it is a Distortion with Invader poles, basically. which, could be very very cool.

I have a Dean project that one is destined for.

detonators kick unholy ass for cheap pups indeed!
they have a tendency to get a touch squeally at times.
