Duncan Frankenstein vs EVH Frankenstein

Is the EVH frankenstein pickup the exact same as the one made in the custom shop?

I thought that seymour made the frankie for EVH and Fender was doing the wolfgang. Regardless, it is certainly confusing.

I'm looking to put a frankenstein in my wolfgang git but of course the routing for the wolfgang had to be unique. The tabs are different and the corners are rounded on the plate. I'm not in the habit of buying a pickup only to cut it apart so I was hoping that they were the same and the custom shop could just make one that will fit right away.

The custom shop can machine the baseplate to fit the EVH route. They did one for me. At that time it was called the IM1 model and I can assure you from personal experience that it is the sound we’ve been chasing since 1984 :*)

BTW, the Custom Shop will make it Floyd Rose spaced...the EVH one is standard Gibson spaced.

I know you said you'd prefer to not have to mod the baseplate on a normal production version, but wanted to make you aware that with a Dremel tool and a #426 cutting wheel for it, the mod is actually a quick and easy task. I recently shaved down the two extra-wide side tabs on a Fender humbucker using that tool in under 5 minutes. Looks like you rubbed carrot juice on it and hired a robot rabbit to chew on it, lol.

I know whar you mean, haha. That's due to those shoulder spots formerly having screw holes through their centers. If you look at some pics posted in earlier replies in that thread, you can see what I mean.

I could have grinded those rough edges down after I made the cuts, but aesthetics doesn't really matter (to me) on something like this which is covered up once installed.

Re: Duncan Frankenstein vs EVH Frankenstein

I know what you're saying. It doesn't matter at all about the aesthetics...I was just ribbing you for some fun.

Re: Duncan Frankenstein vs EVH Frankenstein

Thanks GrilledCS, By design on the wolfgang the pickup plate is clearly visible in the guitar and aesthetics do matter to me.
