LOL, BBQ is one of the thickest, smoothest, most full and widest sounding pickups on the planet. I find it twice as fat as the JB.
Yes, in my Les Paul it was very fat. In my strat though, I found it to be very fizzy. And yes, I had it wired correctly.

Very true bro! It goes to show how pickups sound so different with different guitars. I prefer the Rio BBQ in a mahogany set neck axe. I use Duncans and Dimarzio in my bolt ons.
The BBQ is maybe the best pickup I have found or my tastes in a Les Paul or SG, next to the Gibson HB-L

JB or Blackbelt 2 or Evolution or PG tb....good in Fat strat.
Singles hard to say unless you say what style of music this will be used for and which amp do you have?

Rio BBQ should be a little wider, fatter and warmer than any of those in an alder strat.

I actually find just the opposite in my Les Paul. The Custom sounds much fuller, with a much better mid range growl.
