Duncan QP vs Dimarzio super d s/c

Hi,

Contemplating changing the neck pick-up in my hard-tailed BC strat and I really want a true s/c sound. I like the sound of the original dimarzio s/c super d (not the s/c sized hum) although I had heard that the Duncan equivalent was the QP. As I had one of these in the neck of an old charvel strat and didn't like the sound - too my ears it was too dark and overwhelming. How does it compare to the super d?

The the SDS-1 and the Quarter Pounder are two completely different beasts. Neither are very vintage sounding. The SDS-1 is warm, wooly and loose. The Quarter Pounder is hard, loud and clean. Both have their merits and both sound better with 500K pots than with 250K pots. If you want a wide frequency range, punch and clarity the QP is better and if you want a fat, warm and hairy single coil the SDS-1 is better. I have swapped the poles on the SDS-1 with fillister screws and it is a dead ringer for a P90 in a single coil size. All of the fuzziness and dirt is rounded off and the SDS-1 grows a giant set of balls.
