Re: Duncan Schematics rant, is it possible to get a DEFINATE answer on this? (SSH)
Here's my story:
My Texas Specials are hum cancelling in the notch positions. When I got my Pearly Gates put in the bridge, it was wired up with a toggle switch to kill the stud coil. At position 4, when the stud coil was off, the tone was nasal and weak. The tech tried to tell me that this was the way it was supposed to be :eek13: I asked him if it would be better if the mid and neck were replaced with the bridge and middle (as I described in post 2), and he said that wouldn't work. This is the same guy who told me push-pull switches had to be wired to the same pickup as the knob :smack:
When I got it home (keep in mind this was before I knew much about pickups), I was desperate for a solution to this, so I decided to wire the humbucker in reverse (swapped the green and black). That fixed it - pos 4 sounded like it was supposed to. At the time, I didn't realize this meant I was killing the screw coil when I flipped the toggle switch, but I didn't care - the guitar sounded great to my ears.
Does this mean Fender Texas Specials are the same polarity and wind as Duncans?
Zerberus said:Yes and No, Fender has used both directions and polarities over the years.. so we´re actually both right and talking out our ass at the same time
But I can´t say for sure the way the "modern" Fender singles are, I always managed to sell people a whole set of duncans somehow![]()
