finally got my duncan sh6-b and sh6-n. i replaced my sh1-n 59model with sh6-n.

all i can say is sh6-n is perfectly matched for sh6 bridge. but i would try sh2n jazz model as well.

whats your opinion?

Sounds fine to me. I have the Distortion Mayhem set in a Charvel 750XL.

If you're playing heavy stuff (which I assume you are given your pup choice) I'd steer clear of the Jazz. It's nice clean, not so good for higher gain leadwork.

I also replaced a 59 with a Distortion neck last week, not really noticed a massive difference yet, although I've not had much chance to play it.

Not my style but it is great for big fat solo sounds, if that's what you are looking for. I'm talking FAT :D

i cant shred that much with 59model, so i decided to try sh6-n.

a nice try though. just what i needed. but im still looking for sh2-n to try it out.. :)

The SH-10n Full Shred is the ultimate neck pickup. Thick but super clear with TONS of pick attack.

I've tried a Jazz in 2 guitars I've owned, and have been unimpressed (an ash strat and a poplar strat). However my friend brought round a home-made through neck mockingbird (maple, alder wings) and the Jazz absolutely kicked arse in that guitar, had great definition with gain.

I wouldn't write off the jazz, but it does seem to be picky with what guitars it'll take gain well with. Clean it's sounded great in every guitar I've heard it in.

For what it's worth my favourite neck pickup for high gain leads is a Dimarzio FRED bridge model. I have it paired with a Custom in the bridge, and it is one fat fat neck pickup! Split it gets great cleans too.

what didn't you like about the 59n? i'd tweak the distortion set a lot more before fitting anything else

Re: DUNCAN sh6-n neck. good or not?

i've been wondering... is the SH6n to the SH6 as the demon is to the full shred? i'm talking coil winds here, i am aware of the obvious difference in the poles

the reason i ask is that i vastly prefer the JB wind to the custom wind, and also prefer the underwound AWG43 of the demon to the AWG43 wind of the custom; i'm wondering if the distortion neck/seymouriser might be the ticket for my LP's bridge, or at least worth a try..?

I'd love to know this too...

How do the pole pieces line up though? Can a neck bucker line up properly in the bridge?

this was brought up last week . . . the SH6n/Seymourizer is 43 gauge wound to ~12K with a ceramic mag. it's standard/Gibson spaced so it should be just fine in the bridge position.

so if it's 43@12K... coil-wise, it sits about halfway between a custom and a demon...
very interesting... i'm off to do some searches
